Perma-Guard D-21 Garden and Plant Insecticide is a powder containing diatomaceous earth (DE) that can be used in outdoor crops and greenhouses against beetles, ants, aphids, caterpillars, midges, weevils, stinkbugs, cabbage worms, army worms, peach borers, and others. It can be used on plants even on the day of harvest. Protects plants from a vast number of insect pests.

Perma-Guard products are dry powders which consist of diatomaceous earth (DE), pyrethrin (chrysanthemum plant) and piperonyl butoxide (botanical extract) used as a natural multi- purpose insecticide.

How does it work?

Many other insecticides kill chemically but, insects can develop an immunity to the chemicals. Perma-Guard D-21 Garden & Plant insecticide kills bugs physically and insects have no way to develop immunity to this physical action. Perma-Guard D-21 diatomaceous earth insecticide is certain death to insects because it kills by actually puncturing the insect's exoskeleton, disrupting it's soft waxy shell structure, and causing death in a short time by dehydration.

To insects, diatomaceous earth (DE) is a lethal dust with microscopic razor sharp edges. Under a powerful microscope the tiny sharp edges can be seen, but to the touch, it feels like chalk dust or flour. These sharp edges cut through the insect's protective covering drying it out and killing them when they are either dusted with DE or if it is applied as a wet powder spray. If they ingest the DE it will shred their insides. It does not have to be dry to work, but it works better dry.

In addition to the action of the diatomaceous earth on bugs and insects, which is certainly non-toxic to humans and animals, Perma-Guard insecticide also contains pyrethrum, a vegetable, digestible extract from a variety of chrysanthemum flowers that is deadly poison to insects, but virtually non-toxic to warm-blooded life (people, pets, wildlife etc.)

Another ingredient used in Perma-Guard's D-21 household insecticide is piperonyl butoxide which was first discovered in sassafras plants. Although an insecticide in it's own right, piperonyl butoxide's greatest value is that it multiplies the action of pyrethrum by a power of ten! Due to these ingredients, Perma-Guard Garden and Plant D-21 insecticide has a remarkable repellency factor that is ever-present in any environment in which they are regularly used. Bugs just don't feel welcome.

D-21 – Packaged as Garden and Plant Product. (Has 0.01 % pyrethrum) – For gardens, plants and hydroponics to kill insects. Apply wet or dry.
